Customer guide

Choose a textured-hair professional with more than a scroll.

A portfolio can show taste, but a confident booking also needs service detail, timing, price clarity, policies, and proof that matches the appointment you want.

Check 1

Match the specialty to the service

A strong portfolio should show the service you plan to book—not only a provider's best work in a different technique. Compare finish, parting, density, hair length, and maintenance needs that resemble your own request.

Check 2

Read the service definition

Confirm what the price includes: wash or prep, added hair, take-down, consultation, finish, and styling time. If an important detail is missing, ask before paying a deposit.

Check 3

Check timing and preparation

Look for an honest duration, arrival instructions, hair-prep requirements, and a late policy. Clear expectations protect both the client and the professional from a rushed appointment.

Check 4

Review deposits and cancellations

Before checkout, identify the deposit amount, refund cutoff, rescheduling rule, no-show policy, and remaining balance. Save the confirmation so the agreed terms are easy to reference.

Check 5

Look for recent, specific proof

Recent reviews tied to completed services are more useful than a large unexplained rating. Pay attention to communication, punctuality, service accuracy, and how the provider handled a concern.

Check 6

Protect your comfort and safety

Choose a setting, communication style, and appointment format that work for you. Share allergies or access needs directly, and leave if the service, price, or environment materially differs from what was agreed.

Compare the appointment, not just the starting price

Two listings can describe the same style while including different work. Write down the hair length, size or finish, preparation, materials, and time for each quote. A lower starting price does not settle the comparison if you still need to arrange a wash or buy added hair. The numbers below are illustrative quotes, not CrownBooked prices or market averages.

Example: the same requested style, two different inclusions
Quoted itemProfessional AProfessional B
Style$160$205
Wash and preparation$25 extraIncluded
Added hairBring $30 of materialsIncluded
Comparison total$215$205
Deposit credited to total$40; $175 remains$50; $155 remains

This example assumes each deposit is credited toward the total. Ask whether your deposit is part of the price or an additional fee. Neither quote includes unlisted charges, travel, tax, or an optional tip. Get the final breakdown directly from the professional before paying. Then compare appointment length and preparation: a $10 difference may matter less than a schedule you can actually keep.

A consultation message you can adapt

I am looking for [service, size, length, and finish] on [date]. My current hair is [length and relevant styling details]. Does your quote include washing, preparation, materials, and finishing? How long should I reserve? What should I do before arrival? Please confirm the total, deposit credit, remaining balance, and cancellation cutoff.

Send a reference image only if you have permission to share it, and explain which detail matters: the parting, length, shape, or finish. A photo alone can leave the professional guessing. Ask which parts of the reference suit your requested service and what would change the quote. Discuss personal access or comfort needs directly rather than posting them in a public review.

Decide what is ready and what still needs an answer

  • Ready to compare: the portfolio matches the requested technique, the inclusions and total are written down, and you understand preparation and timing.
  • Ask before paying: the deposit terms are missing, the reference requires a different length or size, or the appointment window does not include preparation.
  • Choose another option: material questions remain unanswered or the requested service, location, or terms change without your agreement.

Keep the service description and confirmation together. If you reschedule, ask for the revised date, time, and deposit treatment in writing. After the appointment, describe what you booked and experienced when reviewing it; avoid publishing private messages, payment details, or someone else's personal information.
